About The Event

Itinerary

  • Day 1

We meet up at the Grand Canyon National Park no later than 4 pm. Once everyone is settled, we have our group dinner at the Maswik Foodcourt (or another location) to carb up for the trip and to discuss final plans for the next day around 4:30pm. I will be doing backpack checks after dinner to ensure they are packed well and set up for your height. We plan on going to sleep very early around 7pm since we'll be getting up around 2am for our Rim to Rim the next day.

  • Day 2

We need to be at the South Kaibab trailhead and ready to go at 4am sharp! So wake up call should be 2am. Once we are all set and ready, we'll be meeting at parking lot D at 3am. We'll be taking the taxi to the trailhead. We start our decent at 4am. We'll make a few small 5min stops for snacking until we reach our first long stop at Phantom Ranch. We stay here for about 15-20min. This will be our first big meal and recovery.

After 7 miles, our next stop will be Cottonwood Campground. This will be our next big stop to make any adjustments to our gear and clothing. After a good meal, we are off and the accent begins towards the North Rim for the next 7 miles. This is the part that all the training and preparation pays off. Working together as a team, we will push and maintain a good pace to get out of the canyon around 6pm. Once on top, after a few cheers and celebration dancing, we will try to get some help from the local hikers to drive us to the hotel 3 miles away or we have to walk. Those will be our only options.

  • Day 3

After the best sleep of your life, we have two options. We can stay an extra night if we want to recover and enjoy the North Rim. Or we can wake up and head right back down to the South Rim. If we stay, there's a few trails on the rim that you can explore. There's a deli, restaurant, coffee shop, souvenir store, and a patio with the most amazing view of the Grand Canyon. You can explore and go about your day but we'll be going to sleep around 7pm

  • Day 4

We wake up around 4am. We'll have a small breakfast before grabbing the shuttle to the North Rim trail at 5:30am. The hike from North to South is a bit easier because of the extra shade, and easier decent. We'll be making the same stops as we did starting the trip. Cottonwood would be first, follow by Phantom Ranch. Those stops are about 15-20 min long. We'll me making a handful of 5min stops along the way. The goal is to get back to the South Rim in about 12-14 hours.
