This is hike #1 of 3 we do to prepare for our Grand Canyon Backpacking trip. It's a slow trail to challenge the endurance of the legs while still training the strength of them with a 1,200 feet elevation. The distance is about 7 miles there and back. We cut it short at 4 miles because someone ran out of water. The temperature at South Mountain is a lot hotter than is going to be at the Canyon in October. That's why we training and prepare now, so we can enjoy the trip better later.
